|I had the pleasure of hearing the Band on CBC Radio today in the car as we were returning from the Remembrance Day Ceremony in New Jerusalem, NB. This is the beautiful area of the province that was taken over to create CFB Gagetown. The concert created an appropriate mood following the Service and driving through the nice rural roads. The Band never sounded better. Great concert!!It made me feel privileged to have been a small part of such a great organization.
Best Wishes to you all. Good Job! Miss you all on days like today!

My husband retired after 31 years.
I am putting together a movie of his life in the navy and I would love to use the "Heart of Oak Fantacy" as background music. Is that possible? How could I buy it. Is there any way to purchase other music by the Stad Band? It certainly brings back fond memories, such as, a friend of ours, Ron McInespie, who served in the Stadacona Band in 1963 played "Moon River" on our good china cups at our wedding. |I am a serving police officer in Durham Region, Ontario and have just visited your website. I have seen pictures of my father in the band in 1947-48, Alan Shaw. I have a framed photo of my father as the Drum Major of a combined HMCS Stadacona and Cornwallis at the Halifax Bicentenary Parade, June 21, 1949. I would be happy to deliver it in person if you are in Ontario in the near future. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.|

|My grandfather, Barry Van Alstyne, was an original member the Stad Band. What a thrill it was finding his 1940 picture on your site ... particularly one I had never seen before. And to see his handwriting seventy years after a long march ... incredible. I've seen the band several times, and well up with pride and fond memories of my grandfather every time. He has been in the sax section in heaven since 1992, and is still sadly missed. Thank you so much for the gift of keeping his memory alive. To present band members ... may your families look back in 70 years and remember you as fondly. They will, as long as sites like this remain.|

|My wife and I were thrilled, last summer, to watch the band, as we do most years, at the FIMMQ festival in Quebec City.
At one of the outdoor concerts we were lucky enough to be given one of the handout CDs "Sailors and Songs" which we play often and have come to love. I would like to receive a copy of the "Heart of Oak Fantasy" CD mentioned on your website.
Thanks and we hope to see you at the next gig.

|I was in the audience today when the Stadacona Band played Carbonear Collegiate. And I have to admit, when I first heard that you were coming, I was less than excited. A Naval Band in a high school? Yeah, sounds great....Well, I guess I was wrong!! Because you really did sound great!! It was fabulous, and so much fun. The selections were terrific, and got some us teachers dancing. Thanks for making me eat my words!!|

|Just caught the Riverview show last night.
Your C.O. must have the patience of a saint,
Scott was very annoying, but funny. The music
arrangements were fantastic, and played to
perfection as always. Would still love to hear
"Heart of Oak" or "Invercargill". Marches are
always popular and well liked by all, and
expected by the public from a military band.
Learned that P.O. Wayne Warford is no longer with
you. I will miss him. Hope to see you people
again next year. Another chorus of the North
Atlantic Squadron anyone?|

|We attended the annual "Beary Merry Christmas" last Wednesday evening in Riverview, NB. Please pass on our hearty thanks to the entire cast for the best performance ever!!! Each year we enjoy the event more! I get goose bumps just re-reading the program and remembering the music. Gabriel's Oboe and Breath of Heaven were spectacular. It was so refreshing to hear a completely different rendition of the traditional Christmas music. I could go on and on.......Thank you for another fun and inspiring Stadacona event!!! Truly Canadian pride in our resources. We will see you all next season. Warmest regards, Peggy Bohus|

|Hi......My name is Doug MacLean. I am a former member of the Stad Band. Here is some info for any of the present or former members: I served in the Stad Band and the Cornwallis Band during the 1960's. I was at CFMUS prior to that (Class 22)In 1968, I was posted to the RCR Band until 1970 when I completed my 7 year Bandsman Apprenticeship. Club Bands, Dance Bands, One Man Band - Entertainer, etc, became my main activity..... I did attain further training through UBC and then became a Public School Band/ Music Teacher. In 1978, I returned to the CF (Naden Band). In 1987 I becamethe Voluntary Band Instructor at CFB Moose Jaw. Then "retired" in 1991. I was then A "Bandmaster/Director" for numerous Community and Youth Band Programs....Then I became a "Cadet Band Officer" and later a "Director of Music" for the Militia. Since then I have been more busy than ever with my Music Stores and Music Studios.I did return to school music teaching in Saskatchewan (near Cold Lake, Alberta. Then I spent 5 years as a school music teacher on a West Coast First Nations Reserve in B.C. (Near Prince Rupert). In 2008 I became the Secondary School Band Teacher at Vanderhoof (where I am now). Recently I have established a Music Store here and a Music School for this community. Somehow, in the process of all this, I have become a senior citizen - but - am more active in musical pursuits than ever......It seems that I am still in demand and cannot cease my activities with music. I sincerely wish that all Stad Band members (past or present)experience as much activity, fun and enjoyment as I have will continue to pursue with every possible venue with the music. I can be reached at <email@example.com> or at 250 570-8284 whenever.....Sincerely, Doug MacLean|

|I wish there were more military bands around. When I was in the services there were 18 full-time bands. I was in the Royal Canadian Engineers Band and after integration I was transferred to the Naden Band in Victoria, BC. In 1967 I served in the armed forces tattoo and have dedicated a web page to the 1700 men and women who travelled across Canada that year performing over 150 shows. It was a wonderful show! www.tattoo67.com|

|I would like information of someone I believe was a member of your band in 1944 - 1945. I am unable to send this request in via the webmaster as I do not have outlook and have an older computer and am hesitant to download programs. I would appreciate any information you may have. I will gladly send any and all information I have to assist you. The information I do have is from my father who was also in the navy but I am unable to find any information on him either.

|I'm afraid I didn't realize my entry would show up on the chat board, if it's called that. The information I'm seeking is for Lieutenant James Downie. He was bandmaster. He played the clarinet. I'm not sure where he was stationed. He was my fathers' music teacher in Toronto until he went away at which time he arranged for my father to be taught by Captain John "Jack" Slatter of the 48th Highlanders. My father was in the band in Halifax in 1944 & 1945.|

|Good morning, Stadacona Band current members, supporters and alumni. Former Oboist and Parade Cymbalist most remembered (me) during the years 1996-2003 reporting to the Guestbook here on the 5th February 2018. Looking professional is your website and related promotional material on various computer venue such as utube that features outstanding audible/visual musical selections from best concerts has been noted by me and friends of Stadacona Canadian Forces. News from me as updated-current application here at RCTOR for "interested" has been expressed to me (since 2003) as to re-intergrating after all these years. Perhaps employment in the future and working together in some capacity is possible. In the meantime, I am planning to visit on location Winnipeg and Halifax in the Spring/Summer months this year to see old friends and acquaintances. Millenium5 is indeed a success and now there is Soundmover5. This increases the professionalism as to what happens to musicians over time and as to not forget the accomplishments, history and substantiate the CAREER, something of a highlight I often thought was important in the workplace. Again, outstanding is your current productivity and output-CFMUS is professional and showing the best leadership and team potential. Congratulations. Keeping in touch-Susan. |
